Purple Rose Bristol

Hey everyone!

I’ve added some more “wannados” to the art section,

Here are the tattoos I’d like to make!

Also here is a work in progress from last week I tattooed on my friend Leigh!

It’s a concept piece based on her personality and life experience. I’m hoping to tailor more of my tattoo designs in this way.

Also I got to tattoo Emily’s old Cat pal Lelu on her last week! Old kitties are so cute.

Thanks for looking!

Legacy

Hey again, I’m really trying my best to update more often on this blog to document things for myself more than anything. I sometimes forget how much I do so it’ll be great to be able to look back at all the cool stuff that happens.

So this blog is about my guest spot at Legacy Ink in Haverhill!

I never get many healed photos as I tend to start more than I finish here. This spot was the exception though! I got to start and finish this Audrey II tattoo on Chris, an old friend. He too is a massive fan of little shop of horrors and new school tattoos! I rarely get to do New school esque things because not many people know I do this style but it is a favourite of mine 🙂

Chris sat amazingly well for his back of thigh. I’m gonna draw up more stuff from my own brain I think as he snapped this up straight away. Here is the process that goes into a tattoo like this.

Fascinating I am sure you will agree ( Sarcasm does not come over well on the internet I suppose)

The incredible Josh Hurrell wanted to get a WITCH TATTOO off me whilst I was up there. He let me go wild on it! This is the drawing.

We got to line her too but no shading because he hates me now and I ruined his day. I’ll get a picture of that later!

Also here is a rum ham tattoo I did on Ed, so bloody and swole. Hopefully it’ll heal up nice and I’ll get a better one.

Oh last but not least I forgot this picture of David’s Hare (don’t call it a bunny, don’t call it a bunny) He is getting a half sleeve studded with imagery and subjects that are all related to family. It doesn’t all have to be about names and dates if you are weirdos like us!

I’d be surprised if anyone reads these but if you do, ta! You’re the best!

Hopefully more photos in a week or so as I’ll be updating more often in preparation for the move to Bristol. I will be doing a guest spot with some very talented tattoo artists in June and perhaps going to work at their studio come August!

thanks everyone

Bristol 2

Hey everyone, It’s been a strange old month!

First off- information time, everything is pretty loose at the moment with nothing solid but for my own piece of mind I’ve decided to put a date in place to stop working in Newbury so I can focus on househunting and get the move in order. This date is 19th July, as I’ll be working the Cardiff Tattoo and Toy convention the 23rd and 24th July, then hopefully moving the week after!

I am now fully booked during my remaining time at the Black Rabbit in Newbury, I will be moving to Southmead Tattoo in Bristol as of August and will be fulltime in Bristol from then.

However I am not currently booking that far ahead yet as I don’t want to have to rearrange or disappoint anyone. The best way to get booked in once I move is to fill out this booking form and send it back to me from the 6th June!

  • Your Name-
  • Phone number-
  • Subject matter: What would you like to have tattooed? How specific your ideas are or how open you are for me to go crazy on your design.
  • Whether you want it in Colour or black and grey:
  • Style –Realism, New School, Neo Traditional? If you are not sure please include an example or two of tattoos you enjoy the style of.
  • Placement on the body:
  • Size- in inches or cm OR “full sleeve” “full leg” and “full back” and roughly whether you have for example a large or small arm!
  • Length of time you can feasibly sit. Whether you would prefer longer or shorter sessions:
  • Any reference material you have amassed-these could include things like colour schemes, tattoos you like, poses of birds or happy little pet faces:
  • If it is a cover up, a photo of your existing tattoo next to a ruler or an easily recognised object such as a mug or biscuit:
  • Where you are based, and whether you are want to get booked in for Bristol or one of my guest spots.
  • What days and dates suit you best, weekends tend to get booked up super fast so if you can do weekdays you will probably get in faster.

Thanks everyone!

Travel light

Hey everyone, I’m finally back from my looong few months of guest spots. No more now until after I get back from Singapore in March! I will be fulltime at Black Rabbit in Newbury, Berkshire from now until further notice! That means I get to tattoo you Reading and Newbury folks again!

I tattooed the wonderful Kitty Kotori a few months back with a picture of her cute dog Boo! This was so fun to tattoo, and we got it done in 4 hours because she sat so well!

Really enjoyed making the colour palette for this one, and would love to do more along these lines.

Here is a work in progress that I also really loved doing, can’t really go wrong with an arctic fox tattoo though right? This is very much a cute animal tattoo blog post!

I got to start this Wicked tattoo as well!

So a little info- I’m currently booking for January, February and March up until my holiday, if you’d like a spot please email hannahcalavera@hotmail.co.uk

Summer

Hey everyone, long time no update- I’ve been a wee bit busy with all the travelling from Oxford! First update is that I now have a Travel section on my site for guest spots and convention news. Second is that I have settled into the new routine and am having fun in Newbury at Black rabbit once again! As well as starting at Arkham in Kidlington, which is a lovely, chilled out little studio.

So since the last update I went on a portrait painting course in Cornwall. Here are some of the paintings I’ve done, the rest can be found in my gallery.

Then a week later I travelled to Kerala for a well deserved break. I had an amazing time, by far one of the best places I’ve ever been. I came back uber relaxed after all the stress and incredibly inspired.

IMG_2311 IMG_2325

So, even with the post holiday blues I got stuck straight back into work feeling better than ever! I finished off Jessie’s peacock finally.

IMG_2752

And did this cute little fella, covering up some old kanji. I’m loving pissed off looking owls at the moment!

IMG_2266

I made this WW2 bear for Alan, complete with trench knife

IMG_2669

and also made this goat on Norm

IMG_2690

I just bought a new camera too so hopefully I will be putting out much better photos of my work. After chatting to Jess I realised I need to put as much effort into taking photos as I do creating the tattoos otherwise the photographs won’t do them justice.

Thanks for looking guys

Convention Funtime in Manchester

Hey my lovely little sunfish, How are you all doing? Not that you can answer that on this site! Me and Jen have had a busy but tremendously satisfying weekend away from Oxford. To be more precise we went to Tattoo Tea party in Manchester! We had a great time, met lots of really lovely people and generally worked our arses off!DSC_0020

Here is little Madame Silver at the booth before the doors opened, no photo of me as I was having a mini meltdown about my portfolio! And her display was amazing, had much more attention than the tattooing!

DSC_0026

Her jewellery is available on the madame silver website.

The first tattoo I got to do was this cute pug on the lovely Lauren, who sat like a champ.

pugig

Had loads of fun on this tattoo <3. Then I did a shoulder rose on lovely Lauren 2! Did not get a decent photo so I’ll post a pic of that next blog. Then me and Jen pissed about for a bit and ate some food before heading back to the hotel.

Sunday was a bit more chilled out, I did this dia de los muertos gal on Ianvariaig3

Oh my gosh do I love being a tattooist! It was such fun to tattoo, this one got a bit of attention! Only took 3 hours as well! More of these please?

Then I got tattooed by one of the best tattoo artists everrrr, one of my long time faves. Mr Brian Thomas Wilson of scapegoat tattoo in Oregontattooig1 DSC_0115 DSC_0114

all lovely photos of be getting tattooed completely unprepared, wearing horrid pants (and right before a 4 hour drive home)!! Worth it though. Meet my new cheeky goat!goaty

such a beautiful tattoo, I’m so happy <33

So that was our weekend! Now we are safely back in sunny Oxford <3 can’t wait to get back to work tomorrow. So inspired!

Tattoo Tea party

Hey there you lovely little crumble-pups, hope your February is going as well as it can be- what a horrid month! So me and Madame Silver will be leaving Oxford for the weekend as we attend Tattoo Tea Party in Manchester. It’s going to be so cool, hundreds of great artists all under one roof! If you’re there come up and say hi! I’ll have prints for sale and Jen will have jewellery and lotions on the stand.

Anyway, last week I got to start lots of new exciting pieces! But unfortunately I didn’t get to finish any!! Here are some of the many!

111

Started this lovely owl lady on Bryony and she sat like a champ!!sdgfsdfgsdfg

And I started this fox and stag piece on Teddy ( I tattooed him 3 years ago- that swallow on his chest!) More to go, I’m really getting loads more confident with black and grey now, so pleased with this piece.

ig5555

And got to start this baby foxy stargazer on Abbie ( who is an absolute star and helped me with my taxes!) loads more to go but hopefully next time won’t be as pinchy! Sorry for hurting you bean!

sdfsdffdsig3

And got to start this Harry Potter themed chest piece! So much fun, more HP stuff please!! There should be droves of people in Oxford wanting to get Harry Potter tattoos, this is where Hogwarts is.

I drew this doe that I’d like to tattoo, along with a bunch of other things22222

To have a look at all the sketches I do that I want to tattoo you can go to this album on my facebook page. Keep an eye out and if I ever get a cancellation if you snap one of the designs up I may very well give you a good deal 😉

That’s all for now chickadees!

Sleeves, laser tattoo removal and preparing the studio

Hey everyone, how have the dreary winter months been treating you? For me it’s usually the worst time of year but due to living in Oxford it hasn’t actually been too bad. We have re-organised the studio so now we have more space and it feels way more homely!

Here is a preview

wexdssds22222

But you could always pop down to Jericho Tattoo Emporium to see it yourself!

I got both laser tattoo removal from the lovely Madame Silver ( getting a sleeve removed) she is so good at what she does I barely even feel it (after the first 30 seconds of surprise) If you have a tattoo you don’t like laser really is so amazing.

I also got tattooed by Aruba Blue

tattooistoxfordtattooartistoxford

tattoostudiooxford

I looove my new tattoo! She is so good at linework.

After 3 years I finally finished Mark’s second sleeve! Here are some bad photos I managed to grab before my camera ran out of battery.

Here is a little freehand tattoo I did on my pal Vikx of a rubber duckie!after

It’s my day off today, a busy one of course but after I get all my little jobs, drawing, sketching, updates and emails done I might go and have a little wander round Oxford.

Hope everyone is having a great Monday!
